Maybe use some design principles if you’d like, but for this assignment, I want you to time travel back to your childhood OR perhaps even the now if you still play! Hop on a game like Minecraft or other free world games that allow you to build and design your very own cottage, tiny house, or even a mansion if you want to go all out! This should be fun and relaxing, but you should still put some effort into it! Enjoy!

- Storytelling through Pictures: Storytelling is the best way to get a message across, to be creative and to speak ones mind. For this assignment you can tell the story of your life through pictures in whatever way you chose. Whether you tell us about your life as a child and show pictures of the best times of your life, like walking and rolling (maybe a future gymnast?) we want to see! You could even make a timeline of the most important parts of your life, like getting your license and loosing your first tooth. Or maybe all about you’re college experience, the friends made and lessons learned. Tell us your story, through pictures. Try not to use words, let the pictures speak for themselves and have fun. Take some thought into it and really reach far and try to show us what your life is made of, whats important to you. You can make a college or a timeline, whatever you think acurately shows the story of what you are trying to show the best.
- Create a READ Poster: Since 1985, the American Library Association (ALA) has tried to sell reading books as cool by showing celebrities reading their favorite books. Or use the poster you create to poke fun at a public figure, or do something else all together. have fun.
- Go Postal: If the postal service was going to honor CPSC 106 with a stamp, what might it look like? Design a stamp that features CPSC 106 elements. Make it commemorative and collectable. This example here is taken from the one created for a Post Card from Magical Places representing Camp Magic Macguffin.
- Alternative Book Covers: Take a title of a well-known book and re-design the cover to suggest something entirely different. For example, the book cover for Cormac McCarthy’s The Road (an apocalyptic novel about a father and son facing the end of the world) is reframed as a feel-good book about effective parenting (see image). Original idea found through this design contest on Book Ninja in 2008.
